Montessori Method
at Clearway Montessori

Clearway Montessori Pre-school uses the Montessori Method of education. The Montessori Method of education was developed by DR. Maria Montessori. The Montessori classroom is a prepared environment that encourages children to learn from the environment and through social interaction. Our Montessori classroom consists of specifically designed materials which can be found in 5 main areas in the classroom.

Practical life

This area of the classroom provides opportunities for your child to learn to manipulate various tools such as spoons, tongs and scoops. The area helps to teach social skills and self help skills such as putting on their coat, buttons, zips, use of manners and organizing their snacks. These are in the classroom to improve independence, concentration, fine and gross motor skills and co-ordination.

Sensorial

The sensorial area in our classroom helps children to learn through their senses. These materials help children to make judgements, comparisons and discriminate between size, colour, weight, shape and texture.

Maths

The maths area in our classroom gives the child opportunities to learn, count and recognise numbers and quantities through the use of materials and games.

Language

Language development is encouraged in the classroom through the use of conversation with adults and peers. The Montessori classroom is vocabulary rich and this along with language materials will enrich your child’s language development.

Culture

Our culture area offers children opportunities to learn about animals, cultures and other countries. The culture area contains a large amount of materials for a child to learn about the world around them

The Montessori Method of education gives a “hands –on” sensory learning experience to your child. The Montessori Method encourages children to learn and progress at their own pace.
